Biography:

Nic: California born; the fourth of eight children.  His father studied philosophy and his mother studied art, both at Wayne State University.  Nic began studying art from a young age through his mother as well as private lessons.  He won artistic awards throughout his school years while studying drawing, painting, pottery and architecture.  He received his B.A. in philosophy at the Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio and studied engineering for architecture. He pursued his Masters in Sacred Scripture at the Institute of Religious Studies in New York while also attending the New York Academy of Arts.  Traveling abroad in Europe as well as Central America studying the arts, he incorporated these cultures into his  paintings and sculptures.  Through prayer and guidance, he felt that God was calling him to do artwork in an ancient yet renewed sense. In the spirit of Saint Francis to "Rebuild my Church," he started writing Icons.  He felt God continue to guide him as he discovered and studied at the Prosopon School of Iconology in Manhattan.  He continues to learn and develop his style and has begun to also make Icon Boards in the Prosopon style.  All his work is done in prayer and in a style that combines the ancient with the renewal of the church.  He works out of his studio in Manhattan.
